Zenless Zone Zero Artwork 8

The Version 1.4 “A Storm of Falling Stars” update for Zenless Zone Zero launched on December 18, 2024, delivering a sweeping overhaul of Main Story stages, the debut of PlayStation 5 Pro support with ray tracing, two new S-Rank Agents, fresh gameplay modes, and a wealth of events and areas to explore. Proxies can look forward to enhanced combat mechanics, such as squad-wide Ultimates and a Quick Sweep feature, plus Quality Time interactions and free access to Asaba Harumasa for eligible players.

New Characters

Hoshimi Miyabi (S-Rank Frost)

Hoshimi Miyabi joins Section 6 as the youngest Void Hunter, wielding her Ethereal-Slaying Katana “Tailless” to inflict Frost anomalies and unleash powerful forward slashes. Her unique Frost Anomaly skills let Proxies accumulate Fallen Frost for devastating ice attacks.

Asaba Harumasa (S-Rank Electric)

Asaba Harumasa appears as an Electric Agent combining bow and blade techniques, marking foes and firing charged Electro Quivers. Proxies who reach Inter-Knot Level 8 can claim Harumasa for free after the update goes live.

New W-Engines & Bangboo

Version 1.4 adds three powerful W-Engines to customize builds: the Anomaly S-Rank “Hailstorm Shrine,” the Attack S-Rank “Zanshin Herb Case,” and the Attack A-Rank “Marcato Desire.” Bangboo collectors can also recruit the S-Rank Agent Gulliver and A-Rank Brawlerboo for enhanced support abilities during missions.

Major Features & Mode Updates

Overhauled Main Story

TV-style cutscenes in the Main Story are replaced by immersive combat stages from the Prologue through Chapter 3, all integrated into the HDD system for seamless progression. Future chapters will follow suit, diving Proxies directly into battles.

Hollow Zero: Shadows Lost

A major update to Hollow Zero introduces the “Shadows Lost” mode, featuring intense Lost Void challenges, new equipment like Bangboo Assist skills and Resonia, plus a periodic “Deadly Assault” operation for high-stakes combat.

Combat & Gameplay Optimizations

Decibels are no longer shared across squads, allowing every member to unleash their Ultimates in rapid succession. The Quick Sweep feature streamlines Shiyu Defense challenges, boosting efficiency in daily runs. All contracted Agents become playable in New Eridu with a new Quality Time Mode for city strolls and interactions.

New Areas & Events

Port Elpis & Reverb Arena

Chapter 5’s “A Storm of Falling Stars” arc unlocks Port Elpis, where the story’s mysteries culminate. The Reverb Arena offers a vibrant Bangboo-themed tower-defense minigame and other community events once Proxies complete the requisite Agent Story missions.

Quality Time & Special Events

Version 1.4 introduces Quality Time Events, Wish and Fun Events that boost Trust levels and reward Polychromes, and new locations like H.S.O.S. 6 Office for deeper character interactions. A rich lineup of events, from “Special Visitor” and “Windchaser Harumasa” to “Bangboo vs Ethereal,” ensures nonstop content for all Proxies.
