Stella Sora Characters: Everything we know ahead of launch
Stella Sora is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated anime‑style action RPGs of the year. Developed by Yostar, it blends top‑down light action, roguelike mechanics, and gacha elements as you assemble a party of heroines called “Trekkers” to explore the fantasy world of Nova.
In this article, we’ll dive deep into what is known so far about the Stella Sora characters: their roles, lore, and key traits.
What Is a Trekker? Roles & Archetypes
In Stella Sora, the playable girls are referred to as Trekkers. You as the “Tyrant” partner with them to explore Monoliths, labyrinthine dungeons full of mystery and danger. Trekkers typically occupy familiar RPG archetypes (DPS, support, tank, etc.), though many also have unique mechanics tied to their “disks” or equipment systems.
Because the game is still pre-launch, Yostar has revealed only a subset of the full roster. As of now, one of the better-documented squads includes the New Star Guild.
Known Characters & Lore
Here’s what we currently know regarding some of Stella Sora’s principal Trekkers and factions:
| Character / Faction | Role / Lore Highlights | Notes & Trivia |
|---|---|---|
| Vollara | Member of the Ashwind Clan. Orphaned, older sister to Neuvira. | She’s described as a faithful follower of Minova. |
| Neuvira | Younger sister of Vollara, likely shares thematic or mechanical ties | Though less information is public about her currently. |
| New Star Guild Trio | A core trio introduced at game’s announcement | These girls represent the first glimpse into the playable cast. |
| Ashwind Clan | A clan/faction in the world of Nova | Vollara is a key member, and the clan is often referenced in lore. |
Because we’re still awaiting full global launch, many Trekkers have yet to be revealed. The community estimates 19 characters based on the “All Characters Ultimate Animations” video.
Character Progression & Mechanics
Disks, Skills & Synergies
One of the defining systems for Trekkers is their disk system (or equipment/disc system). These disks grant buffs, additional effects, or augment their core skills.
Each Trekker will also have a class or stat niche (e.g. damage dealer, support) and synergies with other Trekkers based on their element, role, or theme.
Upgrades & Gacha Elements
As with many Yostar titles, character upgrades are tied to gacha mechanics, duplicate copies, or in‑game resources. In closed beta feedback, players noted some builds and synergies are gated behind character acquisition.
The game reportedly also gives new players free 4★ units at the start and features a pity system (e.g. guaranteed SSR after a certain number of rolls).
Roguelike Loop & Power Growth
While you progress through Monoliths, you’ll pick “buffs/items” per stage to buff your party — meaning Trekkers gain power through layered mechanics, not only raw leveling.
Those buffs often affect your Trekkers across runs, so building composite strength (character + disk synergy + run bonuses) becomes essential.
What To Expect at Launch & What’s Still Unknown
At launch, we can reasonably expect the following:
- A base roster of Trekkers (likely 15–25) unveiling over time
- Full details on each Trekker’s role, element, and synergy
- Upgradable disk systems per character
- Gacha banners tied to new Trekkers or themed events
However, some unanswered questions remain:
- The complete roster and their full backstories
- How duplicate copies or “constellations” might factor into power
- Whether there will be unique ultimate abilities per Trekker
- How supporting/filler Trekkers (healers, controllers) will feel in late game
