Persona 5 The Phantom X Do Palaces Disappear? Game Feature Explained
Persona 5 The Phantom X does not permanently remove Palaces from gameplay after you beat their bosses and steal the Treasure. Story-wise they “collapse,” but you unlock a system that lets you revisit cognitive copies of completed Palaces whenever you want.
Do Palaces Disappear After You Clear Them?
From a story perspective, Palaces vanish once you defeat the Menace and steal the Treasure, just like in Persona 5.
From a gameplay perspective, however, P5X saves a cognitive version of each finished Palace that you can freely re-enter for exploration, rewards, and weekly boss rematches.
- There is no permanent loss of a Palace’s map or loot if you finish the boss early.
- You can 100% exploration, grab missed Gold Tickets, and clean up side paths after clearing the main story route.
This removes the deadline pressure from Persona 5/Royal and lets you separate “clear the dungeon” from “max the loot.”
How to Revisit Completed Palaces (Chamber of Recollections)
Once you finish your first Palace and progress the story a bit, you unlock the Chamber of Recollections inside Mementos.
- The Chamber of Recollections appears as a circular option on the Mementos menu (usually on the right of the active Palace entry).
- Opening it shows a list of all completed Palaces, each with its recorded exploration percentage.
- Selecting one lets you enter its cognitive copy, which plays exactly like the original Palace for purposes of farming and exploration.
Only Palaces that have “collapsed” in the main story appear here; your current story Palace is still accessed via the usual Palace option.
Why You Don’t Need to 100% a Palace Immediately
Guides and community posts repeatedly reassure new players not to rush full exploration on the first clear.
- Progress rewards (e.g., Meta Crystals, Gold Tickets) are tied to exploration milestones, commonly every 10% completion, and carry over to the cognitive version.
- You can safely sprint to the boss, steal the Treasure, then return later via the Chamber to work toward 100% and remaining chests at your own pace.
Because there are no calendar deadlines for Palaces in P5X, the familiar “clear in one in-game day” optimization from Persona 5 is obsolete; instead, your main “time gates” are stamina/AP and real-world event timers.
Weekly Boss Rematches and Extra Rewards
Finished Palaces also support repeat boss fights:
- You can fight each Palace’s final boss again up to two times per week, earning extra materials and rewards.
- This makes Palaces an ongoing source of weekly loot and challenge content, not just a one-and-done story dungeon.
In summary: Palaces do disappear in the narrative sense, but P5X keeps permanent access to cognitive copies through the Chamber of Recollections, allowing infinite revisits, 100% exploration, and weekly boss reruns with no traditional deadline pressure.
