Star Savior Skill Upgrade Guide: Which Skills To Prioritize First
Skill upgrades in Star Savior are one of the most impactful ways to increase combat power, but they cannot be reset. Every Cube you spend is permanent, which means investing in the wrong character or the wrong skill first is a mistake that costs you for weeks. Here is the complete framework for spending your Cubes correctly, followed by character-by-character skill targets.

The Golden Rule: 3/6/6
The universally recommended skill investment pattern across every guide and progression video is Basic skill to Level 3, Special skill to Level 6, Ultimate to Level 6 — written shorthand as 3/6/6.
The logic is straightforward: “invest three levels into the basic and then six levels into special and ultimate — that is the way to be the most efficient and get the most value out of your characters.” Basic skills provide diminishing returns per level compared to Special and Ultimate skills, which unlock stronger effects and cooldown-reduction milestones at Level 6.
The Level 6 milestone specifically is flagged in the character development guide as the first hard target for every skill: “Aim for skill level 6 first.” This is where cooldown reductions and enhanced skill effects most commonly unlock, making Level 6 the point where your investment shifts from incremental upgrades to meaningful mechanical unlocks.
Anything beyond 3/6/6 should be decided on a character-by-character basis, only after you have confirmed you will use that Savior long-term.
The Investment Warning You Cannot Ignore
Skill upgrades are permanent and irreversible. “Skill upgrades cannot be reset — focus 100% of your resources on your four main characters.” Investing Cubes into a fifth or sixth unit you end up replacing wastes materials that are difficult to recover.
A fast-start guide reinforces this directly: “Invest heavily on your top four only. Do not invest as much on five, six, seven, eight — the first team matters because you cannot reset this.”
Before spending a single Cube past Level 3 on any Savior, confirm that Savior is either in your core four or a confirmed long-term investment. If you are unsure, stop at Level 3 as a placeholder.
When To Push Beyond 3/6/6
Certain characters have specific skills with milestone unlocks at Levels 7, 8, or 10 that are worth targeting if that Savior is a cornerstone of your roster. The pattern to look for is:
- Cooldown reduction — skills that reduce their own or another skill’s cooldown by one turn at a specific level. These are among the most powerful upgrades in the game because they enable more frequent ultimates in boss fights.
- Debuff chance 100% — skills that gain a 100% debuff application rate at a threshold level, removing the RNG from critical utility effects.
- Action gauge increase — skills that generate more gauge on a hit at higher levels, improving turn frequency.
- Speed increase — speed-boosting effects that unlock or increase at a specific level, directly benefiting the most important stat in the game.
Always check your Savior’s full skill description before investing past Level 6 to confirm the next milestone is worth the cost at your current stage of the game.
Striker Skill Priorities
Charlotte
Charlotte is one of the few Strikers where pushing the Basic skill higher than Level 3 makes sense because her basic attack gains meaningful combat value at higher levels. “Some characters like Charlotte you’ll want to invest the Basic skill higher — get the Special skill to seven.”
- Target: 5 or 6 / 7 / 6 for a strong Charlotte investment.
Emily
Emily’s passive gains a barrier and cooldown-reduction effect on her ultimate (Turn Down Service) tied to Limit Break progress and skill level. At higher skill levels, the barrier generates at the start of battle and the cooldown of her ultimate is reduced after receiving attacks.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); push Ultimate toward 8–10 if she is your main carry.
Ranger Skill Priorities
Lacy
Lacy’s Ultimate gains a 100% debuff chance at Level 8, which is a high-value milestone since debuff reliability is her primary utility. Her ATK% investment simultaneously raises her Effect Hit, making skill-level synergy with stats unusually direct.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); Ultimate to 8 for 100% debuff chance if she is a core unit.
Lydia
Lydia benefits from pushing her Ultimate toward Level 8 where speed reduction chance increases.
- Target: 3/3/6 or 3/6/6; Ultimate to 8 for the speed reduction improvement.
Caster Skill Priorities
Luna
Luna’s Ultimate is her primary damage source, and progression guides recommend prioritizing it above her Special skill when resources are limited.
- Target: 3/6/6 with Ultimate prioritized first over Special if you have to choose.
Muriel
Muriel’s Special and Ultimate skills both gain meaningful enhancements at Level 8 — the Special extends weakening effects and the Ultimate adds an attack power reduction. These are valuable in extended boss fights and PvP.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); Special and Ultimate both to 8 for a high-end Muriel build.
Omega
Omega is straightforward — 3/6/6 gets you to the main value, and pushing past Level 7 yields smaller returns relative to the Cube cost.
- Target: 3/6/6; push to Level 7 for a moderate additional gain if she is your core Caster.
Dana
Dana’s Ultimate gains a cooldown reduction at Level 6 (the primary target) and a speed reduction improvement at Level 8. Her Special skill is rated lower priority.
- Target: Special X (low priority); Ultimate to 6 (cooldown reduction) or 8 (speed reduction).
Lily
Lily is generally rated “not recommended” for heavy skill investment unless she is specifically your main Caster. If you do invest, both Special and Ultimate gain cooldown reductions at Level 10.
- Target: 3/6/6 if using her; Special and Ultimate to 10 only if she is your primary long-term Caster.
Assassin Skill Priorities
Kira
Kira is a reliable cost-efficient investment at 3/6/6, with a skill enhancement at Level 10 that improves her primary damage pattern.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); push to 10 for a high-end build if she is your main assassin.
Epinel
Epinel has one of the best Level 10 milestones in the Assassin class — both cooldown reduction and a Speed increase unlock at Level 10. The Speed increase is particularly notable since Speed is the most important stat in the game.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); both skills to 10 if she is a long-term cornerstone unit.
Trish
Trish’s skill investment is rated “not recommended” for most players unless you have specifically built around her Ultimate’s cooldown reduction. Her Arcana (which increases Crit Chance and powers the Destruction set) does most of the heavy lifting regardless of skill level.
- Target: Do not invest beyond 3/3/6 unless she is specifically your main unit.
Smile
Smile is another character rated “not recommended” for heavy skill investment by the dedicated skill guide, despite her built-in defence-break making her a strong PvE pick. Her kit works at low skill levels, making Cubes better spent elsewhere.
- Target: 3/3/6 or 3/6/6; do not push beyond that unless resources are plentiful.
Supporter Skill Priorities
Waltz Asella
Waltz Asella is a strong cost-efficient support pick. She reaches full value at 3/6/6, with Level 7 listed as a meaningful high-end target for committed investment.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); Level 7 if she is your primary support.
Frey
Frey functions well at either 3/3/6 or 3/6/6 depending on how reliant your team is on her Special skill utility. She is rated as replaceable by Waltz Asella for most content.
- Target: 3/3/6 for a budget build; 3/6/6 if she is your only healer.
Elisa
Elisa’s Level 6 skill unlocks a cooldown reduction on her revival mechanic, which is her entire value proposition in longer fights. She is rated “not recommended” for heavy investment beyond that.
- Target: Do not push past 3/3/6 unless she is your primary healer; if investing, push Ultimate to 6 for the cooldown reduction.
Iserphang
Iserphang’s primary value comes from a recovery and damage increase that activates at Level 3 on the key skill. Deep investment beyond that is not well-supported by current guides.
- Target: Level 3 on the relevant skill; evaluate further investment based on your specific team needs.
Defender Skill Priorities
Harley
Harley has two strong milestones: Special at Level 10 gains a cooldown reduction, and Ultimate at Level 8 reaches 100% Speed increase chance. Both are worth targeting if Harley is your main tank.
- Target: 3/6/6 (cost-effective); Special to 10 and Ultimate to 8 for a high-end Harley build.
Ede
Ede is rated “not recommended” for heavy skill investment in the current meta — his value comes from his DEF-scaling shield and the shared-damage passive rather than skill multipliers. The 3/6/6 target is “ambiguous” because his kit at lower investment already performs most of its function; Level 10 does add a cooldown reduction if he is your permanent tank.
- Target: 3/6/6 as a safe baseline; push to 10 only if no better tank options are available.
Carmen
Carmen is similarly rated “not recommended” for aggressive skill investment. If you do invest, Level 8 provides a skill enhancement and the Ultimate gains 100% Taunt Chance at a higher threshold.
- Target: 3/6/6 if using her; Ultimate toward 8 for 100% Taunt Chance if she is your main Defender.
