Black Beacon Element Guide: All Elemental Effects, Weaknesses, Counters

Black Beacon Artwork 12

Elemental mechanics are the backbone of Black Beacon’s combat meta, driving anomaly effects, burst damage, and counterplay in every mode. Here’s the definitive guide to all elements, covering effects, weaknesses, counters, and how to build around Overload for maximal DPS.

Elements & Effects Overview

Black Beacon features five core elements (plus Overload):

ElementEffectAnomaly NameDebuff Description
FireHP% Burn over timeBurning/BurnDeals damage over time, stacks for multiple triggers, ideal for chip damage and bosses
ThunderElectrified, rapid multi-hitAlexrusionEach hit “zaps” the enemy for bonus damage, scales with speed and combos, stacks on DPS
WaterFreeze/stasisStasisFreezes enemy for 3 seconds, immobilizes, even bosses! Use on fast/hard maps for control
LightHP% burst, glareGlare“Glare” deals a small burst, then a bigger burst when anomaly meter fills. Great for burst PvE
DarkErosion/corrosion burstDark CorrosionAccumulates damage received, then deals it in a final burst. Key for boss nukes and PvP

Weaknesses & Counters: How to Build

  • Every enemy has 1–2 elemental weaknesses. Hit them with the counter element for bonus anomaly damage (e.g., Unknown Tyrant is weak to Light, ideal for Zero/Shamash).
  • Mono-element teams struggle to trigger Overload (the meta burst combo). Always mix at least two elements for consistent Overload procs.

How Overload Works:

  • When you inflict two anomalies within about five seconds, you trigger Overload, causing explosive damage, lowering Tenacity, and boosting the team’s DPS by up to 1.5x.
  • Team comp tip: Pair Fire and Thunder for rapid anomaly buildup; Water can freeze to lock enemies, setting up Overload with Dark for a massive nuke.

Team Building: Leveraging Elemental Counters

  • Build with Breaker, Destruction, and Assist: All should cover different elements for versatile anomaly application.
  • For bosses, always bring their element counter, check mob info for weaknesses before running each stage.
  • For events or PvP, prioritize fast anomaly build-up (Thunder, Fire) to quickly trigger Overload.
